Good evening, Nicky… I know your flight had a delay…

But I wanted to tell you – I guess I found something out about Stella… I am not sure yet, but I recognised it last week. See – somehow I spotted, that she was usually waiting for me right at the door, when I came home.

I mean, it is so cute. You just open the door and the first thing you see, are those cute, bright shining eyes, together with her habit to sweep around your legs like a kitty-cat…

But anyway, that is not what I wanted to report. See, I guess she somehow seems to develope the same habit towards you…

Okay, sounds maybe cryptic now. But let me explain it to you… You remember last Friday, when you messaged me that you were coming home?

I mean it was quite cute, just five minutes before you messaged me, I heard her tapping to the door and lay down. At first I thought nothing about it… But the same thing happened on Saturday and Sunday… Just five minutes before I got your call…

Oh wait… Let me guess, since she is sneaking to the door again. You are about to come home, right…?

I guess I will put the dinner in the microwave then, so that you have something warm to eat.

Fat kisses

Indy

No, not really left. I just turned off my central processing unit. I am currently writing a strategic business concept for Swift… But to be true, I won’t get it finished today. Actually, Nancy brought me on the idea about it…

Good morning, Nick.

Having several issues here. Anyway, I am in hurry, so I just pass information shortly.

Info 1: Delivery of our Starlifter confirmed by Crusader. Should be out middle of May.

Info 2: Your Certification course for the Hercules also got confirmed. Logically, I already booked the hotel for you and Indy. Your wife is already packing your suitcases :’-))) Looks like she is pretty anxious to be back on Crusader again…

Info 3: Found your files on your table. I just thought, that it was general duty and that you forgot the stuff on your desk again… as usual…

So you are writing a concept for swift? Don’t kill me, but I loved reading it, as well as the general idea behind it.

So I have understood you right? Swift as a general business airline, offering cargo transportation, data delivery and passenger transit services to Xi’An Border territories on an higher middle class quality? Additionally, you want to tie passengers from Goss’s adjacent systems by a fleet of class M passenger transporters, thus trying to avoid competition with greater airlines?

To be true – I love the idea, since you could easily develope into a niche market with pretty much no competition at all.

Anyway, that is the good side of your study. The bad side of it is that it bears some innate dangers and that it also carries some risks and hazards with it.

Issue Number 1 – and in my opinion also the biggest hazard in it – you will need friends for it… Not just the average friends… I mean Mighty friends…

See, being a frontier airline between two civilisations always requires benevolence of all species involved. So you will need a good standing in UEE as well as in Xi’An Empire. Developing in this direction will be a major task and not without risks. But with the one or the other supporter you could achieve the necessary strategic goals for it. And I – for my personal – could also help you with it :)… At least concerning to UEE’s relation. For the Xi’An side – you must bring your own ideas in. Understood, nerd boy?

Issue Number 2. UEE Starline Market… See this is another number. I would not wake up other competitors by sending a fleet of M-sized vessels in their territories, at least not before your Xi’An core market was successfully established. Don’t wake up sleeping dogs until you have the inherent power to defeat or deter them. But in general, your idea to establish an airline market for class m jump tunnels is quite a nice idea. But I also believe, that the Xi’An / UEE transit will be more profitable. But that is just my two cents.

Anyway, Nick, work is calling me again. I guess we speak tomorrow about your business plan, when you are back home.

Keep safe and see you,

Nancy

Good morning, Nick. It is me, Mya. I just got the list with your grades last semester. Jeeeeezzzz, great work, Mate. I guess doing Master’s degree is slightly to easy for you.

Well, and that takes me to another topic, Nick. See, your current grades are above average in nearly all fields of study: Aerospace Engineering, Communication and Sensor technology, and so on.Additionally, you have rankings above average in even more “exotic” fields like theoretical physics or aerospace engineering history.

Anyway, that made it worth for me to talk with some people here at Goss Polytechnic – especially those that know you from courses.

To be true – we all somehow got to the same conclusion. It would be a shame if you would stop with your masters. So if you should ever have the strength, will and energy to continue with your doctor’s degree you are kindly invited to do so. You would make plenty of guys happy here, including the chairman of faculty of aerospace technology, as well as the history guys down in the engineering apartment.

And that takes me also to another issue – should you ever be willing to join post graduate studies, I would highly recommend you giving seminars at polytechnics. I know, you don’t have that much time, but I already have an idea for that.

So, what do you think?

Hey Nicky.

It is me, Indy, again.

I just got home from a drive with Stella.

Jeeeeezzzz, she really got extremely active the last few days. I mean, my jogging runs don’t give here even a Penny even more.

So I decided to give her some more activity and changed to bike. It worked quite well – although even then she dragged me to Pullman’s Ford 20 miles away.

Maybe you could do some runs with her when you are back from Osiris System…

Not that I would be lazy or so. But it seems that 20 miles daily don’t even cause a penny of stress for Stella.

I mean, she is still tiny. What should it get, when she is fully grown up…? 90 miles per day then?

Kisses

Indy

Good morning, Nick… I just took a glance at Goss Departure. I know you are already boarding. But may be you will catch this message prior to take off.

I just got a message from UEE Department of External Affairs. They kindly request, whether we could deliver Priority Mails and Data to Thal and Hadur. To be true – I like their offer and would not say no to it. You know – priority mails are always low risk but good pay.

But anyway – that is not the biggest bummer on the issue. The best thing still comes. If we would accept their offer, they additionally support an extension of our route to Ail’ka system.

So, what do you think about it, little boy… Does it sound interesting?I mean the chance to extend to Ail’ka system matches pretty much your business strategy for Swift… I spoke with some people down in the Department of External Affairs. According to their assumptions a permanent route licence to Ail’ka could be through in roughly a months.

Now the bad thing – I checked the estimated volume of deliveries… Well, it is much… That much, that it would ruin our flight plans with the genesis and the Hercules.

So what I would recommend is the following – since you are already on Crusader tonight for Hercules Handover, go and try to get Mercury. I mean, you are right at the heart of their production plant. I am sure they will have a fresh Mercury, that was not delivered to it’s purchaser due to bad morale in payment.

I know, you are already in panic now… You can’t decide it on your own and all the bla bla and bloop bloop.

Thus I already spoke with Swift’s Bankruptcy Trustee. The guy is simply fascinated by the UEE’s offer als believing that it is worth to accept. Logically, he will submit you an official confirmation for the issue to your residence at Crusader. How was it called? Green line? Green Circle? However.

Additionally the trustee communicated some good news too… He thinks if Swift’s continues with it’s trend and business development, the company will be out of the worst trouble by the end of the year.

So may be you can make your employee an awesome Christmas present this year.

Anyway, Nick, I wish Indy and you a safe trip and a good travel to Crusader. Behave well and thing about purchasing a Mercury. And for your Crusader certification I also wish plenty of success…

Let me know, when you are on ground

Nancy

Topic: Finally home again

Good morning, dad…

I just wanted to say shortly hello and just tell you that we finally arrived on Crusader. Time schedule is a little bit tight today…

The hand-over of our Hercules, which was ordered in 2949, will be this afternoon. After that the ship will be transferred to Goss, where it will resume it’s service next week. Normally, I did not wanted to go the cargo transportation line with swift this way… But to be true – Arccorp offered us a long term cooperation from and to Hadur recently, and since we have a proper carrier available, it would be a major mistake to reject their request.

Additionally, the UEE Department of External Affairs also joined in yesterday, requesting whether we had proper capacities for delivery of priority mails. You know the stuff – diplomatic mails and so on. Their offer is also not that bad on cash. So I will see, what I can do for them. Okay, I also have to say – we will need a Crusader Mercury for that. But anyway, since I am literally at their head quarter currently, I will see, whether Crus will be able to sell me a Starrunner or not.

But back to some more mundane issues… Anyway, we arrived here at Stanton yesterday and made a short trip to Microtech. Okay, I have to say, that Indy was rather… Ehm… Unimpressed, as we found out that we have currently fleet week.

But anyway, I won’t have much from the festival either. I am packed with duties, circling around Hercules hand-over and it’s proper type rating certification on my part. And with possibly even a Mercury coming in,it would be more or less wise, to get a proper M-Type-Rating too. But I still have to clear this issue with Switzerland.

But anyway, what I wanted to say thank you is for taking care of Stella. I hope she don’t haunt you too much. If she gets to pesty and too much, just let her out in the garden. Playing with the other animals will keep her busy.

Anyway, dad I need to prepare for the Hercules hand over. I will send you another message as soon as we are in the hotel.

Big fat huggies

Nick

Nickolas Mercier

First Officer Nickolas Mercier was born in 2914 on Goss III. His father being a Navy Officer and his mother being a Nurse, he somehow merged with the differing interests in his family. Being sly and educated, well-mannered and long-term oriented, he somehow lacked all qualities necessary for his dream profession: becoming a fighter pilot. Although he learned aeronautics pretty early due to his Dad, Nick showed no sign of evidently necessary combat pilot qualities like intuition, agressivity and tactical focus. So he failed his Navy Combat Pilot Test in 2935. What can be a lack of qualities in one branch was his benefit in another. So he sucessfully passed his test for United Empire of Earth Imperial Center of Cartography in the same year and became Pilot in 23rd Exploration Group. He earned his merits there for being a skilled pilot, serving on an Andromeda Class Vessel in his final stages of service. In 2946 he surprisingly mustered out after his mother´s death and joined Intergalactic Airlines, gaining his Type Rating for Genesis Starliners in 2947 and advancing to management and flight instructor position rapidly. In 2949 he changed his employer and joined Atlas Defense Industry as transportation pilot for roughly a year. Prefering a career in civil aerospace transportation though, he skipped to Extensive Enterprises becoming Chief Pilot in 2950. Due to his experience in Starline Operation he was nominated as Interim Operations Manager for Swift Starlines - a small semi-bancrupt passenger and cargo transportation company in the same year, effectively managing to lead the company out of it´s financial within a year.
