Good afternoon, Mister Mercier…

My name is Chretien Metzler, Pilot in Charge for tomorrows flight to Hadur. Anyway, it is nice meeting you again. We haven’t met for a while. When was it the last time? I guess it was in September. Wasn’t it?

Before our departure I just wanted to submit some information to you . Official time of departure will be tomorrow at 5.30pm, so please make sure that you are on the airport at 1.30pm. Let’s meet in the briefing room, where I will introduce you to our Co-Pilot Linda Kessler.

So far, I also got all necessary files and documents together. UEE and Xi’An Empire approved routing and travel licences already last week. So we will head from Goss to Osiris and from Osiris to Hadur.

The machinery destined for Hadur also got delivered this morning. We submitted contents of our cargo already Xi’An Department of trade. So far they know what is going on. Never the less I assume that we will get at least a visit from Xi’An border and customs control during our flight.

And now the last issue – as a measure of precaution I scheduled our Starlifter for maintenance. The bird was grounded for more than three months, so it could need at least a small check up… So far the technicians reported that the spacecraft is in good state and flight ready. Further questions, Chef?

Hey baby,

I just arrived at spaceport. You know that I don’t like to be the last-minute-man at job.

There we are – today it goes to Hadur. As ever I will contact you prior to jump.

By the way – I filled the fridge today and fed the Yengis. Jeeezzz, greedy bunch of little Bastards… I could hardly manage to keep on food while stowing their stuff in the bowl… Yengi 1 here, Yengi 2 there, Yengi 3 already hanging at my legs just to be closer to the feeding bowl and number 4 already sitting on kitchen counter, since it could miss something eatable this minute. Somehow they smell anything to eat even 5 miles against the wind. But okay – at least you always have something nice to laugh.

By the way, I also had the honor that the little guys seem to prefer to sneak up in my bed the last few days… Not that I would not like company – but since the bunch is growing taller, it somehow gets tight in the bed… Any idea why?

Okay baby, I will head to cargo hangar now. I just want to make sure, that the machinery for Hadur is properly. I will message you, once we are enroute…

Wellllllllll, the Yengis … They are so cute … actually the just follow me on any step I do … including when I am at the pool … And concerning the bed … Welllllll, I have to confess that I let the Yengis sleep on your side of the bed, when you enroute … you know that I hate to sleep alone … Although I have to confess, that one of them snores as much as you do … but it relaxes me, and with somebody around I simply can sleep better.

Hello Baby …

I just arrived at Osiris-System … Jeeeezzz, I am so tired… I just want into bed … with Yengis or without … somehow this cargo flights with their night time schedules are not really my thing … one of the most beautiful moments today will be when I just can drop in my pillow and have a good nap.

But back to your question – yes it is the Monkey Planet again, called Etos … Otherwise this System has hardly something to offer, except an orange shining main sequence star, a massive asteroid belt, a Gas Giant consisting of pure hydrogene and … well … Etos the monkey-planet…

Environment Protectionist usually plant plenty of dreamscapes around the planet …. big juuungglleeess … huge flora and fauna …. and all the likes … I don´t want to say anything about that … but to be true – everybody telling such crab, has never seen Etos …. Even not on Interstellar Geographic…

In fact, Etos direct surface is boiling hot… making life exposed to sunlight more or less vulnerable … Instead the life that is typical for the planet developed just underground, where heat and radiation is less intense … Here the planet is rich of life-forms … from gelatineous blobs in it´s primitive states, to crustacean and well – the monkey of course …

Okay, the protectionist also emphasize that the phare-ape is able to evolve sentience … But for my personal opinion, this is a well-meant wish and fantasy in it´s current state… the thingy still needs to undergo one or two milions years of evolution until it is capable of painting a traffic signs for pedestrians …

Otherway the system has nothing that much to offer – except may be space station “Cobold” … One can refill the ship, one can rest, one can resupply the equipment, but this was it then …

On rare ocassions one can also watch the bunch of phare´s apes, that live on the spacestation in order to be studied as specimens. But well after 15 minutes, even this highlight simply vanishes because of lack in interest.

So far, so good … for a break cobold is good, but everything else above that would be simply to much for my personal taste …

Okay, I really need to hopp to bed … I wish you a good day … I will tell as soon as we arrive at Hadur.

Topic: Finally arrived at Hadur

Hey baby,

So there we are… We just passed jump tunnel to Hadur System, running through jump exit checks. So far the flight went fine and without major issues. Crew is safe as well as ship and cargo… I guess, we will head through some security checks before finally arriving at our destination – at Hadur III … Or better Yathlul S.eny’o as it called by the Xi’An.

By astrographic Standards the system is highly unspectacular. Okay it offers a white main sequence star, making everything a bit more washed out by the colours in the system.

Yamon I is a tidal locked world. So always the same side of the planet faces to the star, painting it’s hemisphere either in permanent day… Or permanent night… Or consequently permanent dusk and dawn.

The temperatures match accordingly… From hell-like on the daylight side, to crispy warm temperatures on the night time side you will find everything here… Everything except chilly cold, due to the close orbit of Hadur I

The extreme environmental conditions make the place neither a paradise for humans, nor for Xi’An. So all that is there is a internment camp for Xi’An criminals, who have to support the terraforming process on Yamon II and Yamon III.

Okay, dear, I need to do a short break now. Xi’An border control is approaching. It looks like a larger patrol. So I expect also an ship inspection. I will report back, when the guys are finished.

Okay, that took slightly longer *rolls his eyes… Actually, the Xi’An patrol seemed to consider our freight as very important… So we had them hanging around here for around two hours, including an inspection of our lockers and fuel tanks… Yeeeeezzz, that was a procedure… Not that I would be overly stressed, but after this personal inquisition I just need a cup of coffee… Or two… Or three.

But back to the topic. Yamon II and III are currently the Hotspots in Hadur System, since they are undergoing heavy terraforming. Okay, that isn’t something unusual. Terraforming happens in the Verse every now and then. What is new, is that Hadur is a) a Xi’An System, and b) Arccorp is UEE corporation. This gives the joint venture an interesting blend. After around hundred of years of squabbles and political tensions two alien species decide to put their efforts together, trying to make two rather inhospitable worlds habitable anyway…

Yamon III is slightly more in progress concerning it’s road to habitabilty. Recently they just have flooded the planetary surface with an intense gas mix… The major goal is to increase atmospheric pressure, so that gases could be kept in troposphere – that is the zone where the great weather phenomenon are happening – So everything below 8 to 12 kms.

The composition of Hadur III gases give the planetary surface it’s interesting shine. Mostly basing on dense gases and aerosols, they paint the surface in a purple shine. To be true – it looks quite freaky. A mix of red, blue and purple colored lights that paint the ground in dark tones. But I also have to confess – I am quite curious to see it, so maybe I can arrange a tour on Hadur III’s planetary surface. I will let you know know if I can catch a trip down to the ground.

Well, baby… I need to make another break. The next Xi’An patrol isi approaching. So Number 3 this day, since we left the jump tunnel. Not that I would be stressed already. But if the Xi’An take their job as serious as their colleagues, we will hardly be at Hadur III before night time.

Okay, this time it was four hours. They really don’t seem to trust us anyhow. And again we got the full procedure. Cargo Bays were checked, the lockers, the the fuel, water and oxygen tanks. Even the lavatories were inspected. Somehow I feel currently heavily disliked.

But anyway, the good thing is – at least we are on Arccorp Station in Hadur III’s orbit. So we have the chance to get the machines unloaded and get the spacecraft refilled for the flight home. By the way – we will take some cargo back home. Nothing huge, just some mails and packages from the Arccorp employees for their families at home, as well as some Xi’An letters destined for transport to UEE territories. So I expect to be home as scheduled.

Okay baby, I will head to bed now. I am tired as hell. I will contact you tomorrow.

Hey baby,

It is me – Indy. I just got home from our spot at Bethany Bay a minute ago… Jesus, I am scared now. I still have goose bumps everywhere. Did you still remember, what I told you last year? When I was there with Isa to teach her swim? You remember…?

Today it was like that day again. Somehow I had the feeling that somebody or something watching at me intensely.

See, I was there for an hour or so. When I heard some strange sound and felt that somebody was sneaking around. So I packed my stuff and decided to go. Maybe I shouldn’t go there anymore when I am alone. Okay? Not that I would not like the place – but suddenly I do not feel safe here anymore.

Anyway – back to Topic. Good that you arrived at Hadur. I read in a magazine about it. Not really much to see there. Okay, since you are a science nerd, you will be happy with it, especially due to it’s terraforming program. But for me, there is nothing to see. No shops, no sightseeing, no restaurants, no real beaches. Chuckles. So wherever you go, you are allowed to do so without me. Giggles.

The good thing anyway is – Teadra added some hours for me down at Airfield. The flight school comes back to life. This takes me to another issue – Teadra asked me if you would not be interested in doing some theoretical lessons at the junior’s class.

See, I told her about the recommendation, that you received at your university in January for teaching classes. She just said “perfect” and told me to ask you, whether you would be interested to do the theoretical trainings. I mean, you would really fit into it, next to the fact that you already have all necessary courses and certifications. What do you think about it?

Hey dear,

sounds spooky. Maybe you should take care and head to the Bay not alone anymore. I mean, Bethany Bay is nice, but also practically at the end of the world. At least when you are alone, you never know what creeps around there, and may be just some “peeping John”. So next time you should take me with you… Or at least Sue… You know how she is, she is tough enough to cope with most malevolent crooks. Okay? I mean, at least when I am around I also have something nice to see, especially when you are around “nudy”. Chuckles. How does that sound?

Otherwise we just arrived Hadur Arccorp Spacestation just after midnight. To be true – the orbital station offers an interesting blend, a mixture between human and Xi’An culture in every aspect – in people, personalities, culture and art. Either you head to Gi.Ao or Oz for dinner – whatever you like and whatever suits your interests better. It just depends on you and your personal taste, not on stellar distances… Both are practically around the corner.

Same is valid for shopping and culture… You have either the choice here between either human or Xi’An brands, business and cultures. Casaba is here, as well as some Xi’An fashionista stores. To be true, they have some decent cuts there. Sadly, I don’t match well with their body shape.

But may be I can find here at least a good and nice translator for Xi’An language. I mean it could help me well, especially with Swift’s current connection to Xi’An space. At least you know, what is going on around you… At the one or the other patrol encounter… Or the fourth… Or the fifth… Or the sixth…. Chuckles.

Anyway, my dear… I wanted to head to the spaceport area of the station. May be I can catch a trip to planetary surface of Hadur II or III. I will tell you as soon as I know more…

Hey dear,

I just got back from planetary now. What means back – I would better say, I got back to the Arccorp station orbiting the planet…

So far the trip was interesting, but also not that spectacular by matter of sightseeing… At least for you…

Okay, the purple gas atmosphere was a highlight. But everything else looked pretty much the same as the any inhospitable world in the universe. I mean the planetary rocks and the dust of millions of celestial bodies look everywhere the same – regardless whether they are situated in Hadur, Goss or Stanton. So I am sorry – no real big holos here this time.

Anyway the good thing is that I had the chance to meet some Xi’An engineers… Pretty interesting bunch of people to be true… Okay, one has to get used to their habits and life style, but once you understand their habits you get used to them very easily.

By the way – you said some thing – so you want to teach me Xi’An…? To be true, sounds good to me and I like the idea… So when can we start?

I already went out in one of the shops and got some training and translation software for Xi’An language. Wheppps, that was expensive – but I wanted to have some quality stuff. The thing is called “Kelp’s Training Compendium for Xi’An language and manners” and also works with any mGlass… It starts from a kind greetings and picks up any aspect of Xi’An language, starting with the right words by matter of courtesy, social conventions and tradition.

Okay I already see that grammar won’t be that easy, but may be you could help me with it Kindly… *blushes *

Oh well, I forgot to say that recently. You can tell Teadra that I am on board with the theoretical flight school courses. If she likes I can do the training when ever I am at Goss… To be true – I start to like teaching somehow…

Anyway dear… I need to pack my suitcase… We will leave today at five pm… I should be back at the monkey planet tomorrow… So back at Etos again with it’s highly intelligent apes… Jeeezzz… How much I dislike the Osiris system… Absolutely nothing there, except a boring, glowing hot planet with a semi-intelligent species, that is declared to their god by the those environmentalist freaks. But anyway – at least something that matches their IQ.

Hey dad, how are you doing today? Anyway, we just left the jump tunnel from Osiris to Goss, heading towards Cassel. So we should be back on ground in an hour or two. Would you like to come over for a cup of coffee later?

So far we delivered the engineering vehicles at Hadur and returned back home with some mail, as well as some company cargo on board.

So as a summary, I can’t complain about the financial profit of the trip. To be true, doing so would be more or less unfair. By matter of financial output it sold better than expected, so I would like to keep this route open as long as I could.

Additionally, I got a request from Arccorp’s Management at Hadur, whether we could offer regular shuttle services for their middle management and engineering teams from Goss to Hadur on a regular base. I think we could start with one or two flights per week, and expand our shuttle services there according to demand and profit.

See, the good thing is, that Hadur is relatively close to UEE territories and is a former element of the Perry Line. So people know us there. On the other hand – and that is the most interesting point – Hadur is mostly a rather undeveloped airline market. So it’s importance should increase together with the success of the terraforming project. And in the meantime we will shuttle Arccorp’s staff to Hadur and back.

Anyway, otherwise everything proceeds nicely. If you like you can come over for a coffee or two with the goats. The Yengis also asked what you are doing… Jeeeeezzzz, those little bunch of Bastards can be so stressy… As soon as they hear that you are reaching for their food, they are just around and nearly hanging at your cheeks, gazing, squeaking and pulling at you. It is like feeding a bunch of starved lions.

Since you should be back home, I just wanted to submit some information …

Crusader Industries just confirmed yesterday, that the Hercules we ordered, has left the production site and will be ready for delivered around the middle of march … So they request someone coming over for final inspection and hand-over. Since you ordered the Hercules in 2949 I would recommend, that you do it personally … I mean we could take some people from Swift or Extensive personally, but to be true – I think that some stuff still should be done by the management directly. So – if you want to handle the hand-over personally, just let me know …
Again coming to Crusader… The Crusader Training department also confirmed the beginning of your Hercules familiarization and rating course for 03/ 13/ 2951. The course lasts for six weeks. So you should be approved Genesis and Hercules-Pilot by the end of april. It will look nice in your file. Keep in mind, that you submit me the certificate once you have it. The stuff belongs into your human resources file.
Just met Indy today … Looks like she found fun on your 85x … How old is she now? 28? Good age for a healthy gestation… Ah, sorry, I forgot – you have never been an expert in female biology and anatomy … That is medical word for expecting and carrying a baby … you know? you remember the thing? round belly, lots of vomiting, nausea and so on? And in the end you press something out with the same size of a water mellon, that will keep you awake most nights and producing a lot of stink … Okay, away with the jokes … you know that Indy´s biological clock will start ticking with 30? And well – also keep in mind that you are older than her too … so being called “grand-pa” when fetching your kids from kindergarden is … ehm … sorry to say – Awwwwwwkwaaarrddd … very awkward … But just my two cents …
I called Anderton today, he kindly asked me whether I would know, if Swift will be interested in a long term cooperation with his “Xplor it Thal” It made me curious, so I checked out our recent statistics … To be true, Nick, Anderton pays well, and while most Starlines suffer on the travel restriction since 2950, we achieved a small, but pretty stable growth. If you ask me for my personal 5 cents, I assume that we will have an issue with available ships already this summer. So you should think about ordering two or three additional Genesis Starliner.
That brings me to another issue – the Hercules, we have … May be you should think about, in which direction you want to develope Swift. Cargo Starline? Passenger Starline? If you ask me for my personal opinion – passenger starline is definitely the right choice. You have cargo haulers around the globe, also in an extent where Swift won´t be able to compete with them. I contrast we have a good position in passenger transportation segment in and out of Xi´An space. Me and Indy had some good ideas there, and since she knows Xi´An quite well I really appreciate her advice. Xi´An passenger transportation sector is extremely heavily regulated. Here Swift is in an extreme good strategic position, since flight crews as well as cabin crews have all necessary certifications. We should continue to develope swift as a carrier into Xi´An space and may be even further.

Anyway, Nick … just my two cents. Just let me know how you are planing with Crusader. I will schedule all necessary steps for you …

Chuckles… How do you like the new dress of our Yengis… I thought that a tie around their neck would suit them well. So I went to Harbourstead yesterday and got some cute little ties for them – each one in a different colour. I will send you a holo of it as soon as I can.

By the way – I had an idea… I know that you won’t like it that much… But somehow I find the idea cute.

See, you still remember the cute tattoo Becca had? The one with the Genesis flying a heart pattern…?I still find it lovely. So I thought, I could give it a try on my right shoulder… And don’t worry, it will be decent and tender… Not something that you can even catch at the edge of the verse.

See, I know I am not really a flight girl any more, nor do I ever want to be one again. I am happy in our little world, doing my part time job in the flight school and being pilot’s wife otherwise *chuckles*… But somehow I would love to have a memory on our good old flying days years ago… You understand what I mean?
