Topic: Your recent exams

Hey, Nick …

It is Miya, I know you are currently working … I just wanted to submit you the last results of your recent semester exams …

Well, what I shall say … Good job… So far none of the test is below 263 points, making 86 of hundred percent on the ranking … Excellent work and don´t stop … if you continue this way, I am sure you can skip over a semester or two …

But just keep in mind, you have a private life too … I know that your eagerness is out there, hiding after the last few years … But I am sure it is strong enough to take you to your master´s equivalency and even more…

I also heard from your dad, that you will get married this year … My congratulations … Maybe you would like to come over this weekend for a glass of wine and tell my wife and me all about it … You know how Lilly is … she is always so curious in all thinks.

Topic: THE PARTS FOR THE ALBATROS ARE THERE

Hey Nick,

It is me, Dad … I just wanted to tell you – we got the last parts for the Albatros assembled … Jesus, what an awesome feeling- Gustavo, you and me – we build somethink amazing together … Your Mom would be so proud of you … I somehow feel caught in pride, joy and happiness whenever I approach the plane … looking at it, is like watching on 1000 years of history in mankind and aviation…

Anyway, I proposed to Gustavo that we should add the instruments next weekend, trying to keep your sparetime for Indy and You … But Gustavo insisted, that you should be around when we finish the plane … Not that I want to bother or so, but what are you doing next week end? If you like, you can try to catch Indy´s approvial by telling her that I invited you two to a Dutch Appletart next sunday… I know that she loves the cake like mad …

*smiles brightly …

That is awesome … B-) … Time to put the parts together … Tell Miya about it … And Indy says – ruining our weekend together costs more than an apple tart … may be three or four … as well as two bottles of cider…

I am happy, too … I will start with the tests of performance and flightworthiness as soon as the Albatros is ready … You said, you have a friend who has a son in advocacy service …? Can you give me his mGlass-ID? We need some longer roads for the tests… So can you check the maps for a long straight road segment …?

Yes, I do. His name is John Kantarell, and he works at the local security station doing mostly road patrol service. Should you need him for permissions and licenses – I got his mGlass contact.

Perfect, I need him for the ground performance tests. You can give me his address when Indy and me come over this afternoon. We should arrive for coffee in around an hour.

Good afternoon, Mister Kantarell.

Sorry for disturbing, but I got your mGlass-ID just a while ago. My name is Nickolas Mercier and I know your dad from Nelson Airfield. He was also so kind to hand me your contacts for a small request.

My dad, Gustavo and me are currently working on reconstructing a historical aircraft, build in early 20th century.

So far we finished all systems, also experiencing reliable functions.

Anyway, most checks were stationary so far. So it would be interesting to see, how the aircraft performs in live operations. Do you know, which requirements have to be met for a live performance test – may be on Interregio Lane 33 or 45?

See, the issue is the following – I would need some checks to have a reliable information about various speeds, weights and distances, enabling me to understand flight performance better.

Anyway, I would like to perform those test in accordance with the current UEE regulations. So don’t worry, I am just looking for advice how to perform those tests legally.

Kind regards

Nick Mercier

Good day, Nick,

Good to hear you. Your dad told me that you would call. So I already know some stuff about your project. It sounds interesting.

See – the issue is the following: what you need and require as a kind of permission mostly depends on the stuff, that you want to do with the thing. Personally, I would be okay with taxiing on a large remote road with less or no traffic at low speeds up to 10 knots. Since Interregio 33 is closed since a couple of years, low speed taxi tests would be fine, as long as you let us know when they were performed.

I know, that won’t help you that much. But may be with a more valid permission from Goss Aerospace Office I could do more for you.

Greets

John

Hi John,

no, even low speed taxi is fine. At least I could measure turn radius and ground co-efficient with varying weights.

For the rest I will contact Goss Office of Aerospace. But you said Interregio would be fine? I would deliver the Aircraft with a conny. That should offer sufficient space for transporting the plane.

When do you think can we start with the performance tests?

Just spoke my boss about it. You are on the safer side, if you apply for “experimental test permission and licence” at Goss Aerospace Office. It gives you more security in case something goes wrong.

Just let me know, if you apply for the licences and how the outcome was.

Have a safe day

Hello Amon, this is Nickolas Mercier, former Transit manager from Intergalactic. But now I work for Extensive enterprises as chief pilot. I do not know if you still remember me, but we had the possibility to meet several times when I was airline test assessor for Crusader Industries Genesis spacecraft. In fact, I am still one, my licence there did not expire.

I have a question – I worked with some friends on an Aircraft reconstruction. Muster is a Double Decker Aircraft from the earliest days of aviation. It is an Albatros D.V built between 1917 and 1918. The aircraft is more popularly know by one of it´s aviators – Manfred von Richthofen, also known as the “Red Baron”

So far we got the aircraft technically functioning, also keeping equipment, locomotion and sensors close to the original. In this way I would kindly aply for an experimental test licence. Can you give me a recommendation which parts of your office I have to contact properly?

Kind regards

Nick

Jesus, Nick – you are still alive? I heard that you vanished from Intergalactic after some debates. But it is good to hear that you made your way, even after leaving your former employer.

So it is Extensive now – they are a relative newcomer on the starline market. How many Genesis do they have? I know that already have a presence in the cargo transportation segment. But that they started to get a foot in the passenger transportation area is new to me.

But back to the topic – right department is “Aircraft tests and flightworthiness”. I enclosed the applications form in this message. Feel free to use it and submit it to my adress.

And I catched it right? Von Richthofen´s Albatros? Even if you do not know the plane, you know the “Red Baron”. I really have to say one thing, Nick, you are a real freak, but I like that. Just let me know if you get a test permission. I want to see this beauty myself.

Kind regards

Moebius.

Nickolas Mercier

First Officer Nickolas Mercier was born in 2914 on Goss III. His father being a Navy Officer and his mother being a Nurse, he somehow merged with the differing interests in his family. Being sly and educated, well-mannered and long-term oriented, he somehow lacked all qualities necessary for his dream profession: becoming a fighter pilot. Although he learned aeronautics pretty early due to his Dad, Nick showed no sign of evidently necessary combat pilot qualities like intuition, agressivity and tactical focus. So he failed his Navy Combat Pilot Test in 2935. What can be a lack of qualities in one branch was his benefit in another. So he sucessfully passed his test for United Empire of Earth Imperial Center of Cartography in the same year and became Pilot in 23rd Exploration Group. He earned his merits there for being a skilled pilot, serving on an Andromeda Class Vessel in his final stages of service. In 2946 he surprisingly mustered out after his mother´s death and joined Intergalactic Airlines, gaining his Type Rating for Genesis Starliners in 2947 and advancing to management and flight instructor position rapidly. In 2949 he changed his employer and joined Atlas Defense Industry as transportation pilot for roughly a year. Prefering a career in civil aerospace transportation though, he skipped to Extensive Enterprises becoming Chief Pilot in 2950. Due to his experience in Starline Operation he was nominated as Interim Operations Manager for Swift Starlines - a small semi-bancrupt passenger and cargo transportation company in the same year, effectively managing to lead the company out of it´s financial within a year.
